Considering what I am bottling up and sending every day
Mar. 5th, 2008 | 09:03 am
As I stroll the windswept dunes I notice
many message-less bottles,
tossed away by who knows who,
who used to be living somewhere, but who knows where...
to float and roll around our world almost forever!
So many message-less bottles!
The circumstances behind and before the whys
and hows and the "Who cares?" of their coming
to rest before my feet and eyes
among crypto-crystals and macro-weeds
began tingling the depths and edges of my imagination...
Almost half full with murkey water...yet
almost two thirds empty with air and mystery...
That silly thought paused me
long enough on the garbage strewn sands
to begin to dream and hear many faint and clear unbottled messages!

Universal shamanics - parascientific or transpersonal or both or beyond?
Feb. 6th, 2008 | 08:27 am
Universal shamanics - or all shamanisms and shamanic ways beyond boundaries, traditions, and systems (that nevertheless are lived within the context of boundaries, traditions, and systems) - are lived open-endedly by some who simply must live them, in the fringes and on the edges of all current fields and disciplines of philosophy, science, and art without 'belief' or belief-systems taking hold. Spirituality and religion develop in the wake of a shaman. This could mean the waves left behind by the shaman's boat sailing away and/or it could mean the funeral of the shaman.
Ages ago the arguments began...and continue...and attempts to define (make finite) what is more than the highest order of infinite...probably because defining is one of Ourkind's natural quirks, another side-effect or by-product of language development. I suppose the parascientific can fall anywhere along the continuum between pre-rational magical thinking and frontier alternative science but I opine it will be difficult if not impossible to tell which is which for quite a while.
Both/and! The transpersonal (or spiritual) and the pre-rational (or magical thinking) all may be hardwired into Ourkind's brainy consciousness by Nature's evolutionary processes. A universal shaman must incorporate as much of this continuum as possible (and many continuums woven together) and perform in resonance with each audience and spectator to catalyze the most shifting of life towards better and best.
And/or magical-spiritual exerience may be - or someday be demonstrated to be - more than Dreaming and Imagining. But there is no need for the realms of the shamans in this universe to be anything more (or less) than Dreaming and Imagining.

Mini-mult-media shamanics and science class
Jan. 29th, 2008 | 08:46 pm
So far an experiment I started recently is going well...As the calendar new year turned I decided to teach shamanic ways in a separate class only to those few to several who were able to demonstrate enough enthusiasm and committment to the project in advance to convince me to go ahead with it. I am continuing to develop my interviewing and testing process for selecting participants. The class is meeting 'secret school' style so I won't tell much detail.
Mini-multi-media? I have educational entertaining DVDs and CDs but only a laptop screen and portable stereo here. I have been rather old fashioned for a while. Still, there are plenty of percussion instruments and scarves and pillows...and plenty of art and costuming supplies...as well as a stove and refrigerator.
Shamanics and science: We will explore all topics through the methods of both shamanics and science in turns. Tonight's presentation was exciting for me - and for the class too as far as I can know - and we ate biscuits too.
Old fashioned: I included this weird photo from imageAfter.Com because it reminds me of the first TV my family owned. I used to watch both the electric and reflected pictures superimposed in that screen too because it sat in the glare from the floor to cieling glass patio doors. But of course that first TV in my life was black and white.

My shamanism of wonder, wondering, questioning, and questing...and what else?
Jan. 4th, 2008 | 10:02 am
I don't know what this picture is showing me. It looks a little like a meteorite...but of course it isn't. So far I know this is a photo of a rock...of Earth minerals...which I could make educated guesses about. It also shows me another wonderful mystery...and a sample of sacrament (outward, visible, material 'container' of Spirit and Spirits also made of Spirit and Spirits incarnating)...and a reminder of last night's Quadrantids and Aurora Borealis. This photograph shows a beautiful chunk of 'What Is' that could be investigated and interrogated for more wisdom, knowledge, and understanding...or simply enjoyed in joy.
Ecstatically living in wonder and wondering...and questioning and questing on through inward shamanic and outward scientific ways is my shamanism, essentially. Now and then I begin considering how I might advertise the shamanic circle and my shamanic practice differently, to indicate better what my shamanism is...and is not. I haven't found or received the right words yet.
Update:
Characteristics of my shamanism...not in order of importance......and not implying that I live up to them either...
- Ecstatic imagining
- Living inside out, upside-down, and backwards on purpose
- Knowing light through the darkness
- Radical earth-universe centered incarnating
- Co-creative and re-creative dreaming and shapeshifting
- Acknowledging all as interconnecting and wholing
- Questioning and Questing...Quest-I-On!
- Adventuring and returning to sing and tell
- Outward funning and prophetic pretending...inward FUNning (fun & freedom unfurling universal unity new now) and alchemical changing...and shifting reality for the better and toward the best
- Indiviudal direct experiencing
- Spiritual companionship of two or three or more sacred circling and flowing attention and energy around an agreed upon intention at any living crossroads...of self, cyberspace, spacetime, soul, all the way to mystery
- Facing fear, besting challenges, traveling with Trickster, and dancing with Death
- Accessing unlimited potential and infinite possibilities through all ways, ordinary and non-ordinary, inward and outward...all beings, places, situations, and events...all doors, windows, roads, and modes...all realms, directions, quadrants, scales, levels, dimensions, orders, and processes
My shamanism has as little to do as possible with any specific aboriginal or indigenous tribal shamanisms, religions, spiritualities, or traditions or with any organized or even loosely organized religions or religious movements of any kind, whether mainstream or alternative, eastern or western, popular (or unpopular) or esoteric, new or old.
I do my best to keep my shamanic practice childlike...and avoid seriousity. Now and then I begin to grow serious over all the serious shamansims I notice in the world. So I know seriousness is an important challenge for me to best.
Now and then I grow sad over how few folks I seem to be able to help. Discouragement is a key challenge on my shamanic journey as I get better at detaching from outcomes I may never know of.
I unabashedly embrace both foolish and cyber- shamanism.

Cyber-shamanic connection changes happening
Dec. 17th, 2007 | 05:23 pm
Ordinary reality change tonight: I finally chose wireless over the land-line...and tonight my voice-service phone number, the one advertised on fliers, business cards, and the websites, is being ported over to a wireless phone...and more significantly, I will be saying 'thank-you and good-bye' to the professional speed DSL service. I chose wide ranging mobility over top speeds...and I will be connecting to the internet through a wireless card from early tomorrow AM on...at speeds ranging from faster dial-up to indistinguishable from DSL depending upon my location and the condition of the network. Shamans stay connected while traveling, so this change fits in with my vocation.
I will miss the seeming instantaneity I have enjoyed. But I can always go to a WIFI hot spot if I need a faster connection because my only computer is a laptop which came with WIFI capability built in. With the wireless card I will be thrilled to be able to continue online shamanizing while visiting my folks in Madison WI, which I am making a point to do more and more often these days.
This evening I am going to download ahead a collection of great pictures from ImageAfter.Com to illustrate future blogging. While I traveled in California this last October I got amazingly great reception in Davis and even better in San Francisco...but so-so reception in Sonoma. Slower connecting teaches me planning and patience, I tell myself. I am excited, looking forward to disconnecting the mass of cords and cables behind this makeshift desk. (It is an organized mass, not a mess, but it isn't pretty.)

Shamanic action to transform spilled oil
Nov. 10th, 2007 | 02:22 pm
The San Francisco oil tanker spill of November happened only 50 miles down the coast. I am shamanic journeying and dreaming to help clean up the mess and find the buried blessings in the situation. I hope this video embeds ok. The video takes minutes to load when it does work.

Seagull flew me out over a new lake and back to a new city
Jul. 18th, 2007 | 10:53 am
Shamanic journeying for new connections and openings: I entered shamanic consciousness on the Milwaukee's north Lake Michigan shore. Crows passed me to the seagulls and we flew up over the water. As we soared south a ways, winds from the east blew in a bank of thick low cumulus clouds and we entered it. All was white and inteterminate until we emerged far from the shore.
Storm swells on a sunny day: Over this sea waves were growing much higher, rising more like ocean swells, then more like severe storm wave swells. Waves of water mountains grew until I noticed they were tsunami sized, headed west. The winds were at gale strength even though the sky was sunny and clear! AFter circling both clockwise and counter clockwise - marking eight infinity symbols or 'eight' paths - we headed back after a while, flying more swiftly with the wind behind us through more diffuse clouds and emerging back near Milwaukee. Then we soared with crow flocks over a transformed city of harmonious sounds, vibrant colors, and sweet breezes. All the people below radiated happiness.
Then Seagull and Crow returned me to my point of departure and I re-entered ordinary reality.

Interconnecting multi-dimensions and levels of life flow

...for consideration, though I do not say that any of these articles expresses my own view.
Shamanic ways or the vast clever bag and Pandora's Box of secrets behind The Secret (or the LOA and all cosmic creative principles) open direct ways to interact with deeper realms of nature and all ordinary and non-ordinary realms of All-That-Is. Yet during shamanic practice I speak 'like a child' to imaginary companions and address and relate to energy-flow patterns as individuals...
So I confuse others...without intending to, especially anyone who takes things only literally or concretely! Then this concept that each of us 'draws everything towards our ordinary reality worlds' by resonance and vibration comes up in conversations where it sounds like 'blaming the victim' to many. I experience and understand this as 'impersonal' and 'universal' and not 'particular' and 'personal' and there are only experiencers and adventurers so there is no victim to blame...but this is difficult to explain in ordinary terms. There are unintended consequences of each of our powerful magic workings - whether conscious or unconscious! I know it has to do with the butterfly effect in more ways than one and I vision beautiful monarch wings as I consider it.
Another way describe attraction by resonance and energy-flow patterns: I and everyone and everything are ingredients in a deep cauldron. As an ingredient I might start to awaken even I'm flowing around in this soup and notice that the same ingredients keep flowing in patterns around me. If I awaken to the interflowing unity of all-that-is around me I notice that I am one with the currents that move me through this pot of porrige...and I begin to see, hear, and know the patterns of flow I am involved in. Then, because of the butterfly effect - micro shifts affect the whole in non-linear ways - I awaken further to discover how my little bit, within 'inter-flowing unity' can shift the soup currents by just that much that I am.
And then...since Life's tendency, from particular to cosmic, is to awaken further and deeper I engage 'inter-flow' at the deeper and higher multidimensional levels of soup currents in the cauldron (or Grail)...then begin to even shift the stone container itself...then begin to interact as a little bit of oneness with the two or three or more stirrers above and then with the fire and earth beneath and the skies and stars further beyond...yet within...and then more and more, on and onward. Moment by moment, while after while, through adventurous micro-shifts in my tiny wavicular self, I eventually - alongside of and in awakening re-unity with other wavy bits of being of all sizes, shapes, and kinds - shift my whole world and universe of soup and life through growing awareness and resonance shifts.
So the concoction we know as LIFE gets tastier, spicier, and more and more delicious day by day! And there is nothing supernatural about it...necessarily.

New life through healthiest food choices - Spring inventory
Apr. 11th, 2007 | 12:55 pm
WHFoods: The World's Healthiest Foods
Spring shift: I have been studying healthy foods this new Spring so I will be more apt to notice and choose the best foods for the best health whenever I shop. I am guided by Spirit(s) rather than worldy experts and acknowledge individual differences in most matters, and know that there is nothing growing on Earth without the potential to be beneficial. I avoid subscribing to lists of' dos and don'ts' because I avoid all set in stone dogma. And I bless whatever goes into me.
Yet now I am being nudged by Spirits(s) to study health foods so I will remember the best choices for me on any given day while I gaze over the grocery store shelves.

Ordinary reality is always stranger (and often more wonderful) than fiction
Mar. 26th, 2007 | 06:52 pm
Time travel: Truth not always stranger than science fiction by r stevens · Posted November 14, 2001; 09:14 a.m. In his new book about time travel, astrophysicist Richard Gott has plenty of science to explain, but first he makes sure that his readers are up to speed on science fiction.
Princeton University - Time travel: Truth not always stranger than science fiction
I suppose: Ordinary reality - always beginning and ending in the Big Dreaming - must be stranger and more wonderful always (even when and while it doesn't seem to be) than fiction. If anyone walks into my life-adventuring way and says or does anything that begins to annoy me I can cheer myself up and shift my world if only I remember to utter this saying innovated by a circle companion, 'Hey, thank-you for being my T.V. today!'

Look up to a red ground on the Moon tonight!
Mar. 3rd, 2007 | 04:45 pm
A little early here in the midwest, around sunset: Today is a lunar eclipse day and I hope to catch a glimpse of the orangy moon shine this early evening. The sky has been partly sunny late morning through this afternoon. This is another opportunity to celebrate a crossroads.
February 12, 2007: Picture this: The year is 2025 and you're on the moon. "Home" is 100 meters away—an outpost on the rim of Shackleton Crater. NASA started building it five years earlier, and it is growing fast. You're one of the construction workers. As always in these polar regions, the sun hangs low, barely above the craggy lunar horizon. You adjust your visor. It amazes you how bright a low sun can be when there's no atmosphere to dim it.see captionSuddenly, the lights go out.Up in the sky, a big black disk covers the sun. A red "ring of fire" appears where the sun was only moments before, and its glow turns the ground red beneath your feet. You've been waiting for this. It's an eclipse.Right: On the moon, the ground turns red during a lunar eclipse. This photo was taken by Doug Murray of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, during the total lunar eclipse of Oct. 27, 2004. Mummified Shaman Found Damaged When Opened

Mummy of shaman broken, research continues
www.chinaview.cn
2006-12-25 16:12:22
URUMQI, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese scientists have carefully stripped a 2,800-year-old mummy, only to find the corpse underneath the delicate attire of a possible shaman priest had decayed and broken at the neck and arms.
But research work on the mummy would continue, said Dr. Li Xiao, head of the heritage bureau in Turpan, of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
"We didn't expect the mummy to be so badly decayed, but technically, it won't prevent us from confirming his status and further research on the history of shamanism in northwest China," said Li, a noted historian.
The Caucasian-looking mummy was unearthed from a cluster of ancient tombs in Turpan in 2003 and research has been going on since.
Scientists stripped the mummy last week hoping to better preserve it and find out more about the clothing, culture and life of the time the shaman lived, Li said.

Ancient Burnt City Fortune-Teller's Artificial Eye
Mar. 1st, 2007 | 10:07 pm
I know - what an irresponsible thought and silly, selfish notion! But that childish part of myself is often like that and not afraid to admit it.
Mon, 26 Feb 2007 09:22:08
Ancient fortune-teller's artificial eye
After months of study, experts have announced the gilded 5,000-year-old artificial eye discovered in the ancient Burnt City of southeast Iran belonged to a young female fortune-teller.
Based on a report published by The Times magazine, the woman is thought to have been between 25 and 30 years old when she died, and was as tall as 6 feet, much taller than most women of her time.
Lorenzo Costantini, leader of the Italian excavation group, said the woman had a high sloping forehead, a "determined" jutting chin and dark skin, suggesting she had Arab origins.
The artificial eyeball was gilded with a thin layer of gold. Two small holes had been drilled into opposite ends through which a fine thread, possibly also gold, once held the eye in place.
Sajjadi said the skeleton of the fortune-teller dates back to 2800 BC when the Burnt City was a bustling and wealthy trading post at the crossroads of East and West.

States Act To Repeal REAL ID

States Lead the Drive to Repeal REAL ID
Sarah Beckerman
civilrights.org
Feb 27, 2007 12:00 AM EST
Citing administrative burdens and civil rights and civil liberties concerns, several state legislatures openly oppose implementation of the REAL ID Act and either passed legislation to counter it or are considering such measures.
According to the ACLU, REAL ID was "rammed through Congress without proper hearings" in 2005, when it was attached to an emergency relief funds bill for Hurricane Katrina.
Civil rights groups say that it will effectively transform drivers' licenses into national identification cards, which will become the only acceptable form of identification for boarding airplanes, driving cars and entering federal buildings, among other activities. Documented immigrants and citizens will be eligible for REAL ID cards as well.

Clipmarks & Lucid Dreaming
Mar. 1st, 2007 | 04:39 pm
Clipmarks at http://clipmarks.com/ could become a key tool in shamanic reporting of what is crying out for healing and transformation. I certainly hope the issue with the new Blogger will be resolved because I would rather use this Clipmarks service with Shamanic Shift's blog http://othermiscellanea.blogspot.com/ instead of here.
So this is a test but I did attempt to pick self-educational content of interest to shamanic ways adventurers. I thank 'Cousin Teal' for the link to HOW STUFF WORKS article.
Lucid Dreaming
Being able to control your dreams would be a very cool thing to be able to do, but it is a difficult skill that usually takes special training. It is estimated that fewer than 100,000 people in the United States have the ability to have lucid dreams.
Although lucid dreaming is mentioned throughout history, it was not until 1959 at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University that an effective technique for inducing lucid dreams was developed, and true research into the phenomenon began taking place. In 1989, Paul Tholey, a German dream researcher who had been involved in the research at that university, wrote a paper about a technique he was studying to induce lucid dreams. It was called the reflection technique, and it involved asking yourself throughout the day if you were awake or dreaming. More research has indicated the need to practice recognizing odd occurrences, or dream signs, that would be a sign that "this is a dream" rather than reality.

Dream UFO Visits & Flights
Feb. 6th, 2007 | 08:43 pm
So I am not being abducted through I am being taken for a ride. I was able to see a vision of a parallel version of this planet. My guides called what I adventured "the version (of this earth) where the people diverted the asteroid strike" and this parallel is beautiful and harmonious and both advanced and natural. There is a dynamic, co-creative interplay of inner and outer technologies there as well as the perfect alchemical blending of nature and art. This is not the strangest or wildest sight I have visioned on these journeys but I am still at a loss for words to describe anything further!
Miracles of wholing: I notice as I travel that whenever, wherever more beings are becomming more and more conscious of life in a more grace-full parallel of any world, this causes just that much more life and that many more beings still existing in world-versions of lesser (or more diguised grace) to be re-unified though an enfolding which is somehow an expanding. Paradoxically this reunification causes more not less individuality.
Anyway: Here is a link about Alien Abduction - A Shamanic Perspective On UFOs that describes another perspective.

UFO May Have Been Diverted To Milwaukee
Jan. 2nd, 2007 | 11:17 pm
Chicago Tribune - OHare UFO Sighting
...and I have been feeling this sighting is connected to my visions. It could be a direct or a tangental connection, but I feel and sense the connection.
The arrival of the faraway vessel is to be an auspicious occasion but little else about this marvelous appearance was in those two shamanic journey visions. More may be given to me another day or night soon. Mainly, during those and other shamanic journeys and dreams I received word that a mission and ministry of helping travellers - without bothering anyone about religious dogma or laying any guilt or fear trips - will unfold at GMIA during this new year...and the details will be emerging and clarifying starting now.
Well maybe, as the air traffic controllers suggest, O'Hare was simply jammed as usual, and the conditions were rather windy too, and the UFO that arrived quickly was diverted to Milwaukee by its own space traffic controllers. And maybe those travellers from afar got a glimpse of how pleasant Milwaukee is and felt the high energy vibrations of our airfield and decided to plan their next visit with the Milwaukee airport (GMIA) as their first choice destination.

From Now On: Interdependent Contracting
Dec. 8th, 2006 | 04:52 pm
This was told to me by Spirit(s): From now on all funding besides donations and grants comes through interdependent contracting instead of jobs. So I gave notice and quit my 'day job' at the Milwaukee airport which is like a village to me. Shamanic Shift still has a mission at the Milwaukee airport, however.
At my next (coming up in January) birthday celebration, on a backyard urban vision quest I shall receive the first details of a new airport outreach! So I am told by Spirit(s). In the meanwhile many diverse independent contracting opportunities are opening up right at my doorstep and money is flowing, even though the world around here is frozen over and my next steps snowed under. As the now distant contrails criss-cross the low winter sun I follow these further adventures seeking hints and glimpses of clues, wondering in wonder.

Urban Labyrinth Journey
Oct. 3rd, 2006 | 07:10 pm
Here is a labyrinthine website I found along my web journeying way where many links are broken so that a visitor might seem lost in a maze of dead ends...while reading many well written articles about shamanic ways and this world's religious traditions. I don't know how long that website will be up and live - blank pictures and outdated links make me wonder - yet my visit there reminded me that dead ends always hide the quickest breakthoughs.

Unceasing Sacred Circle & Spiritual Companionship
Sep. 3rd, 2006 | 11:48 am
Every moment or while of every day a key point of the Unceasing Circle shows up and acts out near me and you and in front of every one living today and touches each of our sacred Circles of Life as Teachings of wisdom, understanding, and knowing. The teachings are always two and three or more way flows received and given and spread all at once, right here in these busy, dirty, troubled streets of Earth. Eternal as the WORD is, the WORD still speaking through Wise Fools and Tricksters...and the cosmic joke is always all ways: Eternity is as open-ened as laughter...Just for the FUN of it the first and last laugh creates and re-creates our world every nano-moment, a world created from scraps and shards anyway. Perfect breaking and scattering is growing this humblest of worlds into the ideal place for 'even greater things' to happen than miracles, things even better than the best that ever would have been in the best of dreams. This is ALL here now. How can I look around this world these days and say these things? Look at all the suffering here and there and everywhere. Nevermind...I'm a fool.
